Questions & Answers

About the ball

What is the SWINGA Technique Ball?

A training ball with a half-dimple, half-smooth design that swings like a brand-new leather cricket ball — and never stops. Same size and weight as a senior men's ball, same feel off the bat. No shine to lose, it won't go out of shape, and it still swings in the wet.

146g or 156g — which should I get?

146g gives you the most swing. It's the all-rounder and the easier of the two to get moving — underarms, overarms, throwdowns, flingers and bowling machines.

156g gives you the most realistic feel. It's senior men's weight, swings a little less than the 146g, but comes off the bat closest to a real leather ball. Use it with the quickest throwers: the RoboArm, the RapidArm and the clear Sidearm.

Plenty of coaches carry both — the 146g to challenge players in the air, the 156g for match-realistic contact.

Is there a version for juniors and the backyard?

Yes — the SWINGA Backyard is a soft 60g ball in red, white and pink. Same swing, safe for kids and backyard cricket.

Using it

How do I make it swing?

Wrist behind the ball, seam upright — same as a leather ball, including with a sidearm. Aaron walks through inswing and outswing in the How to SWINGA video.

I'm finding it doesn't swing much

That's by design. It was built to swing like a real ball, not go around corners. As it gets older it starts to reverse and swings even more. If you want the most movement, use the 146g.

Can I use it with a flinger, sidearm or bowling machine?

Yes. It fits all known flingers, works underarm, overarm and by sidearm, and the 146g runs through a bowling machine. Use the 156g with the RoboArm, the RapidArm and the clear Sidearm.
